Comparing averages and spread
A KS5 maths worksheet resource that can be used to practise calculating and comparing averages and spread. Suitable for Year 1 Statistics.
The activity includes:
- finding the mean, median, mode, range, interquartile range and standard deviation from a data set
- looking at the effects of changes on the original data set
The extension activity asks students to find the values in the original data set given the mean, median, mode, range, interquartile range and standard deviation.

In the two extension questions only 5 values are given, whereas the original data set has 6 values. Given the provided solutions, I think this is actually an error and so extra x_6 and y_6 need to be added to the questions.
