Money-selecting coins
A very simple activity for entry-level maths on money and coins.
Students will practice the following skills:
- select the correct coin to draw
- draw the given number of the selected coin
- draw coins to total given amounts of money
Drawing a coin could mean a simple attempt at a circle with the value written in it, or drawing round real or plastic coins. Students who find recording their thinking particularly difficult could choose the appropriate plastic coins to place in the answer box.

I agree it could be difficult but, in those cases, the 'drawing' would be a simple circle with a number in the centre, 2p, 5p, etc. I have previously used plastic coins to help with this activity. I hope that helps.

Good concept, but asking the learners to draw the coins might be a little too much for some learners, young or adult. I would include pictures of the coins and let the learners select the right coins to make up the different amounts.
