Puzzling shape proportions

Give the shaded proportion of each shape as a fraction in its simplest form ... but it's harder than it seems with these interesting patterns! There are many approaches students could take; two differentiated methods are included in the teaching notes (solving with shape or with fraction addition and multiplication).

There are many different methods students can use to answer questions on this particular worksheet so it encouraged students to explain their methods to the rest of the class.
