Whispers game: sequences

A resource in our Whispers game series, focusing on linear sequences, including those with negative and fractional nth terms.

This is a group task about mathematical communication and attention to detail. Students play in groups of 4 and the idea is to end up with the same sequence that you started with, or be able to work out what mathematical or communication error was made along the way.

Sample:

Student A: Here is your sequence: 2, 6, 10, 14, 18...

                 Describe the sequence you see above without writing the sequence itself (e.g.                       write the rule which describes the sequence).

Student B: Write the sequence you see described above.
