Introducing Pythagoras using a tilted square

Explore how to find the area of a square tilted inside a larger square. The PowerPoint demonstrates using the method for a general case, and hence derives Pythagoras' theorem. Follow-up questions include finding the length of sides and deciding whether a triangle has a right angle.

A great resource that requires the student to think and apply all their knowledge of Pythagoras. This is valuable practice for the new GCSE exams in 2017.
