Core maths preparation for year 11

Developed as bridging work for year 11 students who will be starting the Core Maths course in September, this resource contains a series of four weekly tasks to get students practising some of the key maths skills learned at GCSE and applying them to real-world scenarios, in the way they will learn on their Core Maths course.

For each task the student completes a fun, practical task then follows this up with a piece of mathematical work in a creative context. Students work independently for 3-4 hours each week, developing their communication skills by explaining their mathematical processes and justifying their conclusions.

Note: This resource is an adaptation of our Practical maths tasks created for students in years 7-10.
